Footnotes: a Grandmother from Gaza

Laila el-Haddad, the Palestinian blogger (on my blogroll) with nom de plume 'A Mother from Gaza' has a very interesting post about Joe Sacco's Footnotes in Gaza (reviewed here). It turns out Laila's own mother was a survivor of, and witness to, the Khan Younis part of the 1956 massacres committed by the IDF. The post links also to an interview by Laila of Joe Sacco, here.

Laila's mother, 11 at the time of the brutal murders, provides video evidence near the bottom here.

FW De Klerk:

"I apologise in my capacity as leader of the NP to the millions who suffered wrenching disruption of forced removals; who suffered the shame of being arrested for pass law offences; who over the decades suffered the indignities and humiliation of racial discrimination."
